Latex 2B: From the Ground Up
2B is probably my longest-standing cosplay. I finished my original version of her bodysuit in 2017, the skirt in 2018, and upgraded different parts of the bodysuit on two different occasions.
Now, in 2024 as I write this, she has her bodysuit, skirt, custom wig, gloves, and I’ve even made her custom thigh highs.

The Bodysuit
The first version of 2B’s bodysuit is from 2017, and done from phone pics of my tv screen playing NieR Automata as the primary source for her without the skirt, because none of the figures of it had been released yet. I swear there was no design on her bodysuit then! I’d come back in and fix it later, but in the first iteration, the bottom of the bodysuit was pure white.
Latex bodysuit with custom overlays, dozens of individually reinforced real stitches, removable feather trim, and invisible shoulder zippers for ease of dress.
In 2020, I redid the bottom part of the bodysuit, so that it would match the canon version, which has the silver designs. I managed to re-use all of the white pieces, and just over/underlay the silver. There’s also transparent natural latex beneath the silver, to simulate holes in the suit without having to solve the issue of holes in stretching fabric.
This is also a good photo of my gloves! I hand-made these as well.
The Skirt
In 2018, less than a year after I originally made 2B, I felt ready to tackle her skirt. Every panel (there are 6, for a hem that’s nearly 120” around) has a laser-cut and hand appliquéd pattern, matched meticulously at the seams.
To make the skirt look like a dress, since she looks like she’s wearing a dress, it’s high-waisted enough to cover the appliqués, and the seams all match with the princess lines and side seams.
The side of the skirt has a faux lace-up, with a bow, and around the top of the skirt is more individually reinforced stitching.
